‘Fragmented Days’

Onur Özman Remixes

With the upcoming release on ENDLESS we want to surprise you! Just as we were surprised when we received these incredible remixes of ‘Fragmented Days,’ originally released earlier this year by the talented Soma Soul and LKF Project.

‘Fragmented Days’ is now in the skilled hands of Onur Özman, who, like a master musical tailor, has crafted two versions for different occasions. Now based in Zurich, Onur started his journey in the early 2000s in the beautiful city of Istanbul. He demonstrates a great sense of groove and meticulously handles the sound design of his productions. Heavily supported by Jimi Jules, Frankey & Sandrino, Musumeci, Luca Bacchetti and many more.

Let’s meet Onur Özman!

Hi Onur, where are you right now? Can you briefly tell us your story and origins?

I’m based in Zurich, Switzerland since 2010. I’m Turkish in origin and consider myself a product of Istanbul Night Life dating back to early 2000s. I studied architecture in Switzerland. Maybe that’s why producing music and designing a building feels very similar to me.

Do you think your roots have influenced the music you make? What is your first memory related to music?

I’d say ‘Yes’. I like to combine the playfulness and complexity of eastern art as I recall it from my childhood with the precision and boldness of western modernity as I was inspired in architecture school in Switzerland.

There is a noticeable versatility in what you do. How do you approach production? What is your workflow like?

There are two main approaches: Sampling and Experimenting. I love sampling and copying already existing good ideas of previous masters. And I find indescribable inspiration in buying new VST Instruments and playing with them.

How would you define your music?

Futuristic, deep, house

You were chosen to remix this beautiful track by Soma Soul and LKF Project. We were expecting one remix, but instead, we got two! Both are spectacular! There's a strong attention to sound design. Can you give us a little insight into how you worked on them? What did you use? Favorite synths and drum machines? The drums in the 88 version are amazing!

I don’t have any physical gears, since you need to record them in the end. I only use vertical instruments because I love having freedom of change, since you don’t need to work with recording. One I heard the original, I loved it. The vocals reminded me the roughness of 80s synth rock. I ended up with 1988 version, which I personally loved but this remix is not every DJs cake. My manager also wasn’t sure, if the label would accept it. He thought that the remix was too rough and distorted. As a compromise, I produced 2000s version, which resembles more my known futuristic deep sound and is a rather easier version to play for a wider range of DJs.

What are you working on at the moment? Can you announce any upcoming projects?

I’ve upcoming singles coming on Laurent Garnier’s label COD3QR, an upcoming EP on Endless and another EP is going be released on Sum Over Histories.

If you could meet a famous producer for a chat, who would you like it to be?

The answer is clear; I:Cube

What does music mean to you?

Music is the most temporary form of art. Music is always about time.

Dave DK & Anton Tumas

‘Dreaming EP’

Once upon a time, in a mystical Topanga mountain studio in California, two kindred spirits embarked on an auditory journey, delving deep into the realms of soundscapes and psychedelic resonance. In this ethereal space where reality intertwined with dreams, their collaboration gave birth to an enchanting creation: ‘Dreaming’. Driven by an insatiable thirst for innovation and diversity, these friends, seasoned performers from countless shared stages, sought to infuse their collective vision with distinct flavors. Thus, ‘Deep Space Odyssey’ and ‘Where The Tree Grows’ emerged, each offering a tantalizing twist to the sonic feast. Their fusion of unique culinary expertise ensures a release that is not only delectable but also nourishing to the soul.

Transport yourself to the majestic peaks of Topanga mountains where the air is thick with magic and surrender to the embrace of these sumptuous melodies. Within the Dreaming EP, crafted by the visionary minds of Anton Tumas and Dave DK, lies a sanctuary where every note is a thread weaving a cozy blanket of ethereal sound around your consciousness.

Luca Bacchetti

‘Storyteller EP’

Luca Bacchetti makes a triumphant return to Endless with "Storyteller," a captivating 3-track EP that marks his comeback since the release of the “Outer Space EP”. Over the past two years, he has delighted us with a series of remixes, including two remarkable reinterpretations on Real World X and a brief but memorable appearance on Bordello A Parigi. With the 'Storyteller EP,' Luca once again ventures into three distinct musical territories, yet each track maintains his unmistakable poetic essence, a hallmark of his artistry. Some of you may have already grooved to the title track 'Storyteller' at various gigs over the summer, while the fortunate ones among us experienced it firsthand during his DJ sets at Black Rock City. Following this infectious opener is the dynamic 'Outernational,' which weaves in captivating Middle Eastern influences, setting the stage for a rhythmic journey punctuated by mesmerizing melodic interludes. Closing out the EP is 'The Truth,' a collaboration with American poetess Ness, where lush percussion intertwines with ethereal vocals, creating an almost dreamlike atmosphere. The message is unmistakable: Luca Bacchetti is back from his hiatus and is poised to shower us with more surprises in 2024!

Soma Soul embarks on his third musical odyssey with ENDLESS, collaborating with the acclaimed French duo LKF Project, known for their impressive releases on labels such as Watergate, Azzur and Sapiens. Following this encounter, Soma Soul shared some initial musical concepts, and the creative synergy between the artists culminated in the creation of the 'Beyond the Stars' EP. Since its completion, the EP has garnered approval on the dance-floor, earning accolades not only from label owner Luca Bacchetti but also from a diverse array of music enthusiasts.

Soma Soul - Underspreche

‘A Tu Lado EP’

Soma Soul returns to ENDLESS for his 2nd release on the imprint as he’s teaming up with Innervisions’ Underspreche for ‘A Tu Lado’. The collaboration started in 2022 after both artists suffered from strokes of faith in their personal lives. With ‘A Tu Lado’ (meaning ‘By Your Side’), both artists want to embrace the suffering, embrace ourselves a little, giving a few minutes of tenderness – and help remembering that we are not alone – even when it seems we are. On the flipside, Soma Soul goes 'solo' with 'Sinning', a subtle yet effective mix of melancholic melodies, dancefloor ready drumming and clever arrangement.

Luca Bacchetti

‘After The Silence’

Bob Holroyd / Stefano Onorati

Remixes

Taken from Luca Bacchetti’s debut album ‘Secret World’, ‘After The Silence’ was in part recorded in Bali during an Asian tour when Luca invited two rindik musicians to his suite to record some tracks. This happened the day after Nyepi, the Balinese "Day of Silence": a truly Balinese tradition, commemorated every year when everything just stops. During the 24 hours of Nyepi, speaking loudly is forbidden, no working, no entertainment or pleasure, no travelling, no talking, no lighting fires and lights must be kept low. As a consequence, the absence of light pollution at night allows you to see the sky as you've never seen before: a unique experience.

Two years have gone by during which the whole world has been forced into a standstill. Everyone’s habits have been turned upside down and we have all had to deal with another kind of deafening silence from which we are slowly recovering.

Dropped into this parallel context are two great remixes care of Bob Holroyd and Stefano Onorati, each expressing their separate identities but with much in common: depth, sensitivity, and grace which have always been distinguishing features of these two musicians. New musical trips to accompany the dawn of a new day.

Bob Holroyd's music has been described by some as a collage of seemingly disparate styles and instrumentation producing ambient, global electronica, world chill, abstract dance and new age classical sound. Bob Holroyd has to date released 9 studio albums, the latest ‘The Cage’ was used as the soundtrack for a groundbreaking architectural exhibition at the 2018 Venice Biennale, as well as being set to spectacular immersive shows at planetariums in the UK and America. His work has been remixed extensively by a wide range of artists including Coldcut, Joe Claussell, Four Tet, Francois K,  Mogwai, Nitin Sawhney, Luca Bacchetti, The Album Leaf, CASSIMM and Loop Guru.

Stefano Onorati is an Italian pianist, composer and arranger who has played and recorded with a long list of international artists including Tom Harrell, Kenny Wheeler, Lee Konitz, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Enrico Rava, Marco Tamburini, Stefano Bollani, Paolo Fresu, just to name a few.

His musical scope is transversal and merges improvisation with the electronic genre, collaborating with purely jazz ensembles but also actively participating in the world of electronic music. Stefano is capable of infusing poetry through refined and unpredictable sound choices in which the classic often meets the contemporary.

Opole RMXS 15.04.2022

Using delicate, powerful and emotional soundscapes, Eduardo Castillo's live shows and DJ sets move us across a spectrum, guiding us from beginning to end. He starts slow, with a lingering note chosen as carefully as it were a word. Eduardo's mission is always to be a storyteller throughout, as in the case of this remix that sees him transform “Gilded Not Golden” into a pleasant low bpm psychedelic journey with an emotional crescendo, which is his true trademark.

Stefano is capable of infusing poetry through refined and unpredictable sound choices in which the classic often meets the contemporary, as in the case of his remix of “Tannöd”.

Mark Hand produces deep house, electro and experimental forms of electronic music. A UK artist from the North East of England who was classically trained on the piano. He has produced original works for several labels including Apollo Records and contributed as a musician on productions published on labels such as Freerange Records and Ninja Tunes. His remix of “Tannöd” is a real journey, sunny and infused with soft colours, which many will associate with the Balearic sound.

Luca Bacchetti ‘Outer Space EP’

The attentive listener can sense Luca Bacchetti's zeal, love for life, and utter worldliness through his songs. They're always epic in length and progression, each track takes listeners on a calculated but often unpredictable musical journey that tends to manifest sound into physical form. Where many other electronic artists shoot for celestial, Bacchetti's compositions are tangible and grounded.
After the 'Secret World' album, his biggest work to date, Luca Bacchetti is back to ENDLESS with a brand new 4 tracker EP entitled 'Outer Space’. Get ready for another unexpected musical journey!

Let’s meet Opole !

Who are Opole? Why this name?

Opole are Jez and Frank. Two friends living in Cologne. We had been looking for a band name for a long time, and then one day, Frank was making a cup of tea and saw a picture hanging on the wall outside our studio. The picture had the name „Opole“ on it, so we thought, cool, this had been hanging there all that time, let’s use this!

What about your musical roots? Are you trained musicians?

Jez: I’m a classically trained percussionist and drummer. I started playing kit when I was 11 and played in school bands and the county orchestra, which gave me a good grounding and opened my ears to a lot of different styles and genres. I then went on to study music technology, where I got into samplers and synthesisers and that kind of stuff.

Frank: I’m not classically trained. I started playing the guitar when I was 15, and then stopped in my early twenties, when I started getting into electronic music. I picked up the guitar again much later.

Where did you meet?

We first met in a local café here in Cologne. We were living in the same street, and months later we bumped into each other in our local park. We started talking about music, and decided to have a jam together.

Which instruments do you play? What is your live set up?

Jez: I play a modular synthesiser and a Nord 3P electronic drum synth live. I also have a sampler and a sequencer in my set-up, so I can loop things and create synth patterns on the fly. We tend to stick to our song structures when we play live though, and keep the improvisation for jamming in the studio.

Frank: I play guitar. I’ve got a looper which is essential for our live set-up, and a bunch of nice pedals.

How is the club and electronica scene in Köln?

Frank: As I remember eight years ago, before my first son was born, pretty damn good!

Jez: Yeah, there’s a lot of history here, and a lot of choice. A few clubs in our neighbourhood have unfortunately closed, as the land has been sold to developers and there has been a lot of gentrification going on.

What are your musical influences… Which artists influenced the way you make music?

Frank: Obviously, I was heavily influenced by guitar music in my early days, listening to classic guitar based bands that were popular at the time. At the beginning of the century, I totally turned to electronic music. Living in Cologne, I was heavily influenced by Kompakt and the music that they were putting out.

Jez: Shoegaze had a massive influence on me. I grew up listening to bands such as The Cure, The Pixies, Gong, and My Bloody Valentine. Then I got into electronic and dance music and started DJing Techno and Trance in the early 90s. This heavily influenced my music making, as I was writing music for the dancefloor.

What kind of music is part of your playlists? Are you listening to regular radio shows on the radio? Which ones?

Jez: I tend to listen to more ambient stuff at home, but also to some French pop, which I love. I listen to a lot of NTS radio, they have some great shows. There is so much out there at the moment, it’s almost too much at times.

Frank: I rarely listen to radio shows, although I used to listen to Cologne University radio a lot, because there was always such a massive variety of stuff being played. I have phases when I listen to just one type of music for days on end. But, I really prefer to listen to an album in its entirety, to hear the full picture, which sometimes reveals a real treasure, but can also be disappointing.

How was the ‘Gilded Not Golden EP’ recorded and where?

We have a small studio in Cologne, and we recorded everything here. We have everything set up so that we can jam and record things pretty much straight away. Gilded not Golden was recorded as a live take, but that’s not always how it happens. We spend a lot of time working on the production and arrangement, where we go into a lot of detail sculpting the structure of the song. Then finally we move onto mixing. It can be quite a time-consuming process to get something that we are happy with.

In which location would you like to perform your music and why?

After the pandemic, we’re happy to play anywhere to be honest, but we feel we’re probably most suited to playing dark and dingy clubs, smaller festivals or other intimate events.

Do you recommend any particular record store or cultural place in Köln?

The Kompakt record store is of course legendary. But there is so much more going on here, that it’s hard to recommend just one thing.

What's the last concert you went to?

It’s the last one we played, which was at a kind of arts collective place called Niehler Freiheit here in Cologne.

If ‘Gilded Not Golden EP’ was part of a soundtrack of which movie would it be?

Jez: I’m not very good with movies and names. Maybe a David Lynch film?

Frank: Yeah, I agree. It could only be something dark really.

Jez: I would love to do the soundtrack for Tatort one day. It’s a very famous TV programme out here in Germany. It’s a crime film type of thing, and it can be quite dark at times, which sometimes makes it quite cool.

What’s happiness?

Jez: Chocolate biscuits.

Frank: With a glass of milk.

OPOLE-COVER-2000x2000px.jpg

Opole is an electronic band based in Cologne, Germany, consisting of Frank Schöpgens and Jez Nicholl. Frank and Jez live in the same neighbourhood and met in a local café. After discovering that they were both musicians, they decided to arrange a jam together.

They now share a well-equipped studio, where Frank plays guitar and effects pedals, and Jez plays drum machines, samplers and synthesisers. They have a flexible set-up where they can jam out ideas as well as fine-tune their complex productions. Their inspiration is wide, reflecting their varied lives. Frank was born in Germany and spent time living in Barcelona and Paris. Jez is from the UK and moved to Cologne in 2011. They both listened to guitar-based indie music in their teens, and shortly afterwards discovered electronic music in the clubs of Europe. Their ears and minds have always been open to new experiences, which can clearly be heard in their music today.

The Gilded not Golden EP offers a glimpse into the creative world of Frank and Jez. Deep harmonic drones, shimmering synthesisers and melodic guitars complement each other, building detailed landscapes of sound with beautiful textures. The skilfully crafted songs are relaxing yet danceable and envelop you in warm darkness. Opole’s music would be perfect for a relaxing journey through space.

Anthony Georges Patrice Interpersonal Challenge EP including MLiR Remix

Anthony Georges Patrice’s music is nothing constant and stable as it aims to explore rather then succeed. The well acclaimed Parallel Romance even though being the one piece that may be remembered by most, represents only a fraction of the field attempted to be covered throughout the experience. Taking roots closer to the soul centered movements of Electronic Music, having as first influences artists like Sun Orchestra, Masters At Work and Glenn Underground, the musical taste and interest slowly shifted to a more essentialist direction while keeping a profound fascination for Detroit legends such as Rick Wade, Omar S, or even Carl Craig. The battle between explicit melodies and repetitive tools had now begun, the dance of the soul and the mind had now made its first step. From there started an exploration which is intended to never find an end, to never find a final destination, but which is lead by the strong hands of the Deep Spirit which represents the common factor, or the Ariadnes Thread to the journey. A sort of safety road map to follow in case the experiment turned bad.

Here, the exploration of Deep unfolds a new chapter releasing a rather muscular « Baby » and a thoughtful « Change », with the idea in mind to pay tribute without intending to reproduce to the exact same things which had already been done. This EP relates to the intensity that the emotion of Love can infuse into our lives, and the need for us to embrace and initiate the change for it to be appreciated as it is intends to be.

The word organic often comes into mind when you hear MLiR's music. They blend together a whole new universe of sounds, analog vs organic, samples vs field recordings; always telling a story and impossible to categorize under one genre. Einar Christoffersson and Marco Gegenheimer have since 2014 released records on Studio Barnhus, Local Talk, Internasjonal and Compost Records. Their remix of Change is a stunning 131 bpm dance-floor bomb, organic and exotic sounds mixed with acid.

‘Hurt EP’ Remixes

Soma Soul traces a new sound trajectory with 2 alternative pop songs to mark his debut on ENDLESS. Soma Soul’s writing is contemporary and goes deep, getting inspiration by nature combining cinematic atmospheres with electronica. On the ‘Hurt EP’, his ability to delineate new horizons and evoke images cleverly blends the enchanting melancholic vocals of Ed Begley and Simon Batten into the sound landscape.

The remixes are curated by two of the great names on the international club circuit. Marcus Worgull projects 'Missing' toward an exotic place, piano chords resonating with natural elements and wood percussions: a real gem. Luca Bacchetti does not hold back with a characteristic statement on ‘Hurt’, offering-up a new aesthetic and adapting the track to his sophisticated club sound without, however, renouncing the pop references.

‘California’ out now on Bandcamp

01.09.2020

Luca Bacchetti talking about ‘California’:

“I made this track few years ago, it has never been released digitally as single until today. Even though great part of the music I made is for dance-floors, "California" is a song for a different moment.. Given that my work involves a lot of air travel, I really miss being on the road and in the driving seat... When I can, between one gig and another, I jump at the chance for this kind of experience, where the sheer beauty of it all is to lose and then find oneself again. It was during one of these breaks, on the way back to Venice after sunset, after driving through Arizona, Nevada and California, that I began to wonder whether I could write a song to sum-up that precise moment, and now it's here for you!”

Ancient Future

The ANCIENT FUTURE live stream, coming out of the stunning medieval Verrucole castle situated in the heart of Tuscany, is a journey connecting the past to the future expressed by way of contemporary language, bringing the world together with that poetic touch which has always been a feature of Luca Bacchetti's work

Every month, at the full moon!

One of the characters in Ludovico Ariosto's famous "Orlando Furioso" rides the mythological Hippogriff to the moon in order to retrieve Orlando's lost "wisdom". We like to think that each month with the full moon one of our guests will be able to take us on a journey, but in this case the voyage is a musical one... and then if you wish to imagine riding the Hippogriff, that will also contribute to the fantasy. The moon, also responsible for the tides and the subject of popular legends, the full moon with its magic, luck, prosperity and creativity… An event for which we cannot fail to recognize the beauty and perfection, when we reunited with something deep within us, and can still look up there to say: how beautiful!

Secret World Remixes

Mathias Schober, Iñigo Vontier, Stefano Onorati and Luca Bacchetti himself reinterpret some of the more representative songs from ‘Secret World’, which is now valid material for the most demanding of clubs. The impeccable power and sonorous precision of Mathias Schober merge with the pathos of ‘The Bridge’: Mathias cleverly manages to combine the two elements giving the song a truly ‘emotional’ cut. ‘Unconsciously United’ is turned inside out and rebuilt around the rhythmic world of Iñigo Vontier, our favourite Mexican, whose touch can be felt with breaks and arpeggios that will make the dance-floors explode. Luca Bacchetti is as ever a guarantee, providing ‘Black Swan’ with a powerful groove on which psychedelia and hypnotic elements alternate, benefitting from the arrangement and breaks: his unmistakable trademarks. Stefano Onorati, already a collaborator on ‘Secret World’, sets off on a completely different direction, the Tuscan pianist transforms ‘Awakenings’ into an ambient masterpiece. Lower the background noise, Stefano goes deep and will excite you from the very first listen.

‘SECRET WORLD’ Luca Bacchetti’s debut album available on vinyl on October 3rd.

Luca Bacchetti’s debut album “Secret World” is a work almost 15 years in the making. It’s also one that required the endlessly touring DJ to traverse the world numerous times before an inner call came to return home to Italy to record it. Having earned a reputation for crafting club cuts, a fact underlined by releases on the world’s most recognisable labels, it’s a radical sonic departure. But it’s one that reflects both his homecoming and the journey to get there. ”With this, I entered a new world I’ve never shown before,” he says.

Luca Bacchetti’s debut album Secret World is a work almost 15 years in the making. Its also one that required the endlessly touring DJ to traverse the world numerous times before an inner call came to return home to Italy to record it. Having earned a reputation for crafting club cuts, a fact underlined by releases on the worlds most recognisable labels, its a radical sonic departure. But its one that reflects both his homecoming and the journey to get there. With this, I entered a new world Ive never shown before, he says. In 2017 Luca moved back to his native Tuscany. Here, at the beginning of 2018, he decamped for two weeks to a bungalow in Il Ciocco Living Mountain. An area of exceptional natural beauty, he was joined by friends and musicians. All Italian, their sole intention was to capture the ineffable feeling that had drawn Luca back. Awakenings, the first single, evokes spring sunshine with soft, tentative piano. The result is a masterful vision of electronica swelling with emotional contours as majestic as the lands that inspired it.
